Where In the World Is Lesley? (Day Seven)

Itinerary: Reid Harbor (Stuart Island) to Roche Harbor (San Juan Island)
Cruising Time: 1 hour
Weather: Rain at Reid; fog/overcast (60s), clearing to partially sunny skies

Roche Harbor Historical Information

Lazy morning at anchor in Reid Harbor.

Two men, a dog and a boat.

Raindrops and Canadian Maple Leaf.

It wouldn't be the Pacific Northwest without a little rain.

OK, it can stop now.

Misty crossing to Roche Harbor.

Our Lady of Good Voyage

More of that nautical stuff.

Cleat and Spar

The gardens are absolutely stunning.

View from garden, overlooking Roche Harbor.

To sit quietly, then, is not then an escape from “real life”
but the way back into it.
Nature offers as cure the message that Life is larger,
more expansive, longer lasting than our individual lives.
Walt Whitman

Many non-nautical types attempt humorous boat names.
This one actually succeeded.

I noticed you left out the amount of pages you read. Does that mean you gave up on reading during your vacation? But the rainy pictures suggest a good day for reading!

Lesley, I am enjoying your holiday in pictures very much. Thanks for sharing with us! I am jealous!

  4. I am enjoying your pictures, Les and keep checking every day for more! I hope you're having better weather there than we're getting here. At least I don't have to water my garden this week :-)

  5. Myrthe - Yep! The only time I feel interested in reading is in bed at night, but by then I'm pretty worn out. All that fresh air! I've tried to read during the day while we're at anchor or moored in a marina, but the scenery is so beautiful, I'm easily distracted.

I'm glad you're enjoying all the pictures. It's been great fun.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll have to pop over and visit yours.

Joy - Rod discovered that boat. Cracks me up every time I think of it. We've seen some funny names, but some are pretty silly.

Janet - It's been wonderful. The time has flown. Hard to start thinking about going back home and returning to work.

Beachreader - You wouldn't believe how many pictures I shot (and not posted!). I'll put together an Ofoto album later next week for those who want to see everything I've left out of the blog. The weather's been pretty crummy these past few days. We're trying to figure out our departure time to Victoria. The weather is a bit of a nuisance with the winds in the Strait. We may have to hold off and leave very early tomorrow morning when the winds are calmer. I'm not interested in cruising through 3-4 ft. seas!

  6. Loving your pictures and your special take on things. Beautiful. I know what you mean about taking so many pictures. If you're like me there are so many more I want to post but feel sure that moderation is the key. Enjoy the quotes you add.

  7. Booklogged - Thanks! It's been fun picking and choosing which photos to share. I plan to upload the whole lot to an Ofoto/Kodak Gallery album (or two!) and I'll let everyone know when they're ready, in case someone needs a cure for insomnia and wants to looks through someone else's vacation pictures! :)
