Kootenai River Campground is new to us, and we really enjoyed our overnight stay. There are plenty of trees for shade, as well as nice grassy areas between sites. Our pull-thru site felt very spacious. We didn't have a view of the river, but it was just a short walk from the campground. We could easily spend a few days relaxing in this spot before heading to Glacier National Park. Hope to return someday soon!

Delicious!
That's a gorgeous place to stay. All those beautiful trees---wow!
ReplyDeleteDeb, we would love to return to this spot! Glacier NP and Alberta are high on our list for return visits.
DeletePretty area. I like seeing the river. I think it is different than from Kootenay Lake where we go near Nelson, B.C. It is a bit confusing with the names and all the different tributaries.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I looked at Google Maps and it appears that Kootenay Lake feeds in to the Kootenay River, which flows south across the border at Rykerts & Porthill, heading down into Idaho and then over to Montana. It remains the Kootenay River near Troy, but the falls are spelled Kootenai as is the national forest. I love to uncover mysteries such as this, and found the following about the spelling of the word here.
DeleteThose sunsets are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt was even more gorgeous in person, Helen!
